Here are Marty's answers!

1. When did you first start showing an interest in music and what made you choose bass are your instrument of choice?

I first started playing bass at the age of 12, but soon lost interest, perhaps because the teacher possibly sucked. At the age of 14 I bought a new bass with my own money and taught myself at my own pace. As for the choice of instrument, I was instantly attracted to the sound of the bass.

2. What other instruments (if any) do you play, Marty?

I also play guitar, and I "attempt" to play the drums and keyboard / piano. At home you can mostly find me playing an acoustic guitar writing songs.

3. How has your experience being in WATF been so far?

It's been a lot of fun. We've been very busy writing music over the past couple months, just about every day, and now we've just begun the recording process.

4. What is your favorite song?

I cannot reveal any song titles yet.

5. What other hobbies/interests do you have outside of music?

Other than music, I'm also into mountain biking, graphic design, web design,

6. What other bands/singers/genres would we be surprised to know that you like?

Actually, you'd be surprised to learn that I rarely listen to any new music. It's not that I don't like any new bands, I just usually tend to listen to older music.. This could could possibly be because I spend most of my days recording new music.

7. Do you have any advice for any aspiring musicians?

My advice for younger kids learning to play is: avoid the video game consoles. It's a colossal waste of time that could have been spent practicing your instrument. When I was a kid playing my bass 8 hours a day, most of my friends were playing video games.

8. How did you become part of WATF?

I met Ben Moody around 6 years ago and very soon after that we started collaborating, both writing songs together, and I have played bass on just about every song he has produced and written for other artists, so when the idea of forming a new band was brought up, it just all fell together perfectly. So even though this is a very new band, it feels as though I have been in the band for years.

9. With it looking like we will be getting an album release as opposed to the 1-2 songs every 2 months or so structure initially mentioned in interviews, do you guys still plan on filming things such as live performances and the making of the album and releasing it?

I have been filming every aspect of the recording-process of this album so far with my little HD video cam.. We have no definite plans just yet as to what we will do with all the footage. Maybe we'll edit it together and put it on a DVD that will be available as some sort of bonus content along with the CD... I don't really know.

10. How many songs do you guys have written at this point?

I would guess that there are probably 25 or 30 musical ideas recorded on our hard-drives, but probably around 12 to 15 will be recorded in the studio over the next couple months between now and December that will end up as our debut album.... some maybe end up being saved as bonus tracks for future releases.

11. If you could tour anywhere in the world where would you like to go the most and why?

I have toured almost everywhere already, so the places I'd like to revisit once again would be Rome, Amsterdam, London,.... (just to name a few). I have great memories of touring in those cities. Actually I've never been to Australia.. I look forward to finally getting over there.

12. What's your all time favorite venue to play in?

I have a few....

The Astoria Theater - London (although I've just recently learned that it's been torn-down.. Not happy about that)
Cobo Hall - Detroit
Staples Center - Los Angeles
The Gorge - George, WA
Great Woods / Tweeter Center / Whatever the hell it's called now, Mansfield, Mass

13. Please describe each of your band mates in one word.

Rocky - BOOM
Ben - Moody
John - Arkansas
Carly - Shenanigans

14. What's your favorite movie?

The Red Violin

15. Dogs or Cats?

Fish

16. Pirates or Ninjas?

Samurai

17. Do you sing well? And if so, would you consider lending your vocals to a WATF track?

I have the voice of an angel. Just kidding. I can sing a bit, but I will leave all the vocalizing to the Irish girl.

18. What's your favorite lyric from any song ever?

"happy birthday to you"

19. What do you think of wearethefallenfans.com?

I think it is the last and final piece of the puzzle that we call the world wide web. Honestly, I think it's great, and we're all so very appreciative of the dedication and work that goes into it.

20. If you were not a musician, what other career path would you have pursued?

Hobo

21. When do you plan to post on the board?

November of 2009.

22. What's your favorite food ever?

I could go for some Seared Ahi Tuna right now.

23. How/when did you find out Carly was going to be involved in this band? Were you at all skeptical at this choice because of her involvement with American Idol (or any other reason)?
Now after a some time has passed has your opinion changed & if so, how?

Ben called me and said that he had found a great singer that we all needed to hear... She came down to the studio a day or two later and sang some songs for us, and she sounded amazing. I was not skeptical of the American Idol connection at all.. in fact, I think it just proved to us that she could perform under pressure in front of millions of people, and can be that strong persona that we need on stage.

24. You would have been writing for about three weeks together by the time you answer this question. What have you guys learned from each other as far as writing so far? Have you guys figured out who the best writer out of all of you is?

Well since I procrastinated and actually took 2 months to finally answer these questions, (sorry.. haha) I can say that what I've learned is that everyone in this band is capable of writing complete songs by themselves, and it's amazing. Even our drummer Rocky, just happens to be an amazing guitarist and he shows up with completed songs that he's recorded. I'm pretty sure he plays every single instrument on Earth.. I'll get back to you on that one.

25. I was wondering if you noticed that WATF kinda looks like WTF (and therefore what the fuck)? lol

WTF? ROFL, LOL, WWJD? WWWATFD?

26. Would you ever be a guest on We Are The Fallen Fans new podcast?

Only if I can be the one asking questions.

27. What do you think it will be like when WATF go out on tour?

It is going to be a lot of fun.. We have a lot of fun together in the studio, so I assume the tour is going to be a blast.

28. Any idea when the website will be updated or when we will get to hear a new song?

New website will be up verrrry soon. As for the next song, I have no idea. I can say that everyone will be able to get the FULL LENGTH album in early 2010!

I'd just like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who sent in questions and especially Marty for taking time out of his bust schedule to answer these questions and to let you all know that there is some more exciting stuff on the way for We Are The Fallen Fans so keep an eye out on the site!

Okay, now THAT was cool. :D Marty is the shit, he reminds me of Tim lol. (But Marty's wayyy cuter!)
You know the games I play and the words I say when I want my own way!
You know the lies I tell when you've gone through hell and I say I can't stay!
You know how hard it can be to keep believing in me when everything and everyone becomes my enemy and when there's nothing more you can do I'm gonna blame it on you! It's not the way I want to be, I only hope that in the end you will see... It's the Opheliac in me
